Blessing Berlin

Blessing Berlin (261)

On the top of the Berlin Dome (Barocque church), a ring of apostle statues decorate the building. You can visit this upper level and through the openings one can see very closely their backs while they look over the city of Berlin. Some of them seem to “bless” the city while making a cross mark with their hands. Therefor I call this painting “Blessing Berlin”. Because a lot of copper pieces were mounted at the top of the Dome, they render a greenish oxide colour on most of the ornaments, leading to this bizarre and intriguing colour composition.
