How frequent and where does Guy Exhibit?
Guy Mostly holds a big solo exhibition every 3 years. Here, he showcases works from 53 x 35 cm. up to 76 x 54 cm. He paints many subjects, like Flemish but also foreign landscapes. To this purpose, the artist looks for a suitable showroom where 60 works can be exhibited.
Apart from this, Guy organizes smaller exhibitions almost every year with some 30 watercolours, called “Pen and Wash” (24 x 16 cm.), in his own gallery “De Regenput” at Zulte. And occasionally, on invitation, Guy takes part in a group exhibition in the UK or in France.
Does Guy teach regular watercolour classes? Where and when?
Guy teaches 20 regular watercolour classes in 2 independent reunions, located in Western Flanders (Poperinge, Zwevegem). These classes treat a versatility of subjects, which are communicated beforehand. Click here for more info.
What is the concept of these regular classes?
In these classes, Guy showcases how you can study and analyze the subject, and how you can strategically develop a plan to paint it in watercolour. Every step is being discussed extensively. 2 to 3 courses are spent for each subject and there are 5 to 6 subjects every year. While members are painting, Guy walks around giving tips and tricks to master the subject. These courses start in september and finish the next year in June. Every reunion counts some 20 students who can subscribe again in september. There is no level distinction like in the academies, so beginners and advanced are sitting in the same class, working on the same project. Everyone works at his own pace in a relaxed atmosphere. All these classes are meant for beginners and slightly evolved.
Where can I find more info about these regular classes?
- Thursday A.M. every fortnight : De Poperingse Aquarelclub.
- Tuesday A.M. every fortnight : De Zwevegemse Aquarelvereniging (Contact Mrs. Marleen Verbrugge).
- Note that Guy does NOT ORGANIZE these classes, but the independent reunion does. This means you can only make contact through the links above.
Are there also more advanced classes?
Yes, there are. Every year, the artist organises 3 to 4 series of specialized watercolour classes during 6 consecutive Saturday mornings in his own studio at Scheldewindeke. Take a look here for more info.
What is the difference between the regular and evolved classes?
The specialized courses delve much deeper into the strategic approach, image analysis, colour patterns used, and painting techniques. They treat more complex landscapes and are meant for painters who have some years of experience but want to know more about specific area’s, like how to paint realistic grasses, rocks in the water,….
Does Guy also organize shorter workshops (1 or 2 days) during which a complete subject is being treated entirely?
- Yes, Guy teaches watercolour workshops In Belgium and abroad, which will be announced on this site, and with a link to the specific site of the organiser for more info. A good example of yearly returning workshops is at Iscrat, Belgium (De Gouden Pluim – Iscrat).
