Falaise D’Amont, French coast

509

This rock, very known because it belongs to a series of consecutive rocks that was painted many times over by Monet (Etretat), has a special architecture. It has a hole in the middle, which is typical for these chalky cliffs. The softer parts of the rock erode quicker than the top layer. Thereby, a “bridge” is created and when the weight of this bridge becomes too much, it collapses and a peak is left into the sea. I also loved the light scattered on the receiding wave in the front part, accentuating the brightness of this painting.
